A new act on court-appointed interpreters

21. 5. 2020

Starting from 1 January 2021, court-appointed interpreters and translators will follow a new regulation in their work, namely Act No. 354/2019 Sb., on Court-Appointed Interpreters and Translators. The new act will finally replace the old piece of legislation that has been in effect since 1967 and that applies both to forensic experts and interpreters. Clients who use the services of court-appointed interpreters may not notice any difference, but the interpreters will certainly welcome a number of long-awaited changes. To name just one, they will now be able to choose whether they want to work as translators or interpreters, or do both.
